Successful 4th International Symposium of the TRR259
On June 18th, 2024, the University Hospital Düsseldorf successfully hosted the TRR259 International Symposium on Aortic Disease. The event took place in the lecture hall of the Surgery Department, drawing a distinguished group of experts from around the world to discuss cutting-edge research and advancements in the field of aortic disease.
Revolution in Cardiac Surgery: The Aorta is now Recognized as an Independent Organ
For years, our research team in the TRR259 has gathered groundbreaking insights into the aorta. Now, the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (EACTS) and the American Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) have stipulated that the aorta should be considered as an independent organ in the human body.
Kick-Off-Meeting in Maria Laach sets stage for the second funding period of TRR259
Maria Laach, Germany - The TRR259 embarked on its second funding period with a successful Kick-Off Meeting held at the Seehotel Maria Laach on October 18-19, 2023.

TRR259 members at the AHA 2022
The Annual Meeting of the Scientific Sessions of the American Heart Association (AHA) was held at McCormick Place Convention Center, Chicago, Illinois USA from Saturday, Nov 05 through Monday, 07 Nov. The American Heart Association (AHA) is a nonprofit organization in the United States that funds cardiovascular medical research, educates consumers on healthy living and fosters appropriate cardiac care in an effort to reduce disability and deaths caused by cardiovascular disease and stroke. The AHA conference takes place annually. The meeting provided an invaluable educational experience and an opportunity to network with top minds in the field, as well as a global community of more than 28000 Medical and Cardiology professionals from every subspecialty.
Diversity Days
On May 31, 2022, the nationwide Diversity Day, initiated by the Diversity Charter, will take place for the 10th time. The University of Bonn is organizing the Diversity Days from May 30 to June 1 to mark this occasion. The three days are organized by the Equal Opportunity and Diversity Unit and the Vice Rectorate for Equal Opportunity and Diversity in cooperation with the Office of Family Services.
Women Connect Series
In September 2021, the “Women Connect Series” network for female researchers was founded. Together, the TRR259, TRR237, Cluster ImmunoSensation2, iRTG2168 and SFB1454 want to organize a network with workshops, lectures and network events for female scientists. As a prelude, we offer an exciting workshop on the topic of "Improvement of visibility and media strategy" followed by an exchange of experiences between the participants and the coach. Young Investigator Award
Big congratulations to our TRR259 member, Dr. Mohammed Rabiul Hosen!Dr. Hosen received the Young Investigator Award (YIA) in Basic Science Session from the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) for the presentation of his latest translational work on ESC congress-2021, from August 27-30, 2021.
