DESCRIPTION:Digitalization is changing day-to-day research practices acros
s all fields of academic inquiry. This advancement leads to a growing numb
er of research data collected\, processed\, analyzed\, published and archi
ved\, almost exclusively\, in digital systems. In this context\, the term
Research Data Management (RDM) refers to a range of activities and topics
concerning the handling of digital research data.\n\nEver wondered what a
data management plan is and why care to write one? Ever been unable to ope
n a file\, find the most recent version of a file\, or worse\, lost an imp
ortant file? Regardless if small or big and transdisciplinary\, all projec
ts can generate enough (digital) research data to become confusing and sus
ceptible to loss.\n\nIn the first part\, this workshop provides foundation
al knowledge and best practices for handling digital research data. The se
cond part builds on this with a practical introduction to tools and data s
 tructures used in the TRR259.

our audience. We’ll investigate the challenges audiences can have in pro

chance to present to a partner\, and we’ll finish by seeing a selection
  of your presentations.\n\nIn the workshop\, we’ll be looking at:\n\n•
How audiences really make decisions\n• How to make it memorable\n• Wh
at are the attention magnets?\n• Slides: where they help\; where they ha

and what that means for you\n• Demonstrations and Analogies\n• Statist

\n• What makes your audience care and therefore act?\n\nYou’ll see exa

DESCRIPTION:When we speak\, we not only use our voice but our whole body.
The workshop offers the possibility to explore the role of gestures and ot
her bodily movements in communication\nand shows how and why our body shap
es communication.\nThrough video analyses in combination with exercises fo
r the voice and the body\, the workshop sharpens the participants observat
ion for these aspects and provides the basis for a better understanding of
  communication.

DESCRIPTION:The workshop Entering Leadership provides a structured insight
in basic leadership questions. What is „leadership“? What tasks are r
elated to leadership positions? Entering such a position means to enter a
new social role and to define how we as individuals want to interpret this
role. Role theory allows to describe and understand the different dynamic
s related to leadership.\nAdditionally\, we will explore leadership tasks
and styles and create links to practice of leadership. The last part of th
e workshop addresses difficulties young leaders have to face quite often.
If young leaders enter established and experienced teams there might start
some struggle about being accepted as leaders - a process some authors ca
 ll status games.

DESCRIPTION:Scientists have to be able to present their arguments in a pre
cise and convincing way. However\, when writing their papers\, many scient
ists rely on intuition rather than on concrete methods. This course provid
es participants with all the techniques they need to know in order to stat
e their arguments precisely\, correctly and convincingly. The course start
s with the basic concepts of reasoning and logic: validity and soundness o
f arguments\, deductive and inductive reasoning\, common types of logical
inferences. From these basics\, we derive useful techniques for argumentat
ion in scientific texts. Throughout the course participants get the chance
to apply the acquired skills directly to their own work\, to get feedback
on already existing manuscripts and to produce new texts on their researc
 h topics.

start and plan projects by making use of recognized and approved methods.
They get to know how to deal with the diversity of stakeholder expectation

rolling and they get the chance to interactively develop a common understa

of this introductory course the participants should have gained a first in
sight into the ways and means of running projects more professionally and
that is: structured\, easier\, more efficiently\, and with a higher awaren
ess of different interests and expectancies.

DESCRIPTION:„Wow\, that presenter is so good in front of an audience. If
only that were easier for me!“\nBeing a good speaker is often just ques
tion of developing a set of skills and techniques. The use of voice and bo
dy language\, an effective presentation structure and the dynamic use of l
anguage require awareness and practice. The workshop helps to identify and
  explore these requirements\, from self-reflection to self-assurance and l
ong-term excellence.\nThis is an activity-based workshop led by a professi
onal trainer with a background in theater whose expertise is in helping th
e speaker effectively communicate the importance and relevance of the work
and the core message of the talk. Participants with presentation experien
ce can strengthen the narrative\, the emotional tone\, and the physicality
of their talk in order to define and support the speaker’s own dynamic
 style.
